Quality over Quantity: The New Era of Autonomous Driving Data |
|
|
As autonomous driving moves toward full-scale commercialization, the industry's focus is shifting.
It’s no longer just about collecting massive amounts of data. It’s about how quickly and accurately you can identify "meaningful data" to train AI.
The investment landscape reflects this shift. Recently, Silicon Valley startup Nomadic secured $8.4 million in seed funding to build a "data highway" that manages the terabytes of video pouring off autonomous fleets. This highlights a growing global demand for infrastructure that can navigate the "data deluge" and find the critical needles in the haystack.
🇰🇷 Spotlight: AIMMO – The Master Architect of AI Data Excellence
While many are still figuring out how to move data, Korea’s AIMMO has already established itself as the premier architect refining that raw data into high-performance AI intelligence.
At the heart of their success is AIMMO Core™, an end-to-end data management platform that automates the entire lifecycle of AI data—from collection and curation to labeling and evaluation.
-
Smart Curation of Edge Cases: Rather than processing every second of mundane driving, AIMMO’s AI specifically triggers the collection of Edge Cases—rare, high-stakes scenarios like sudden weather changes or unpredictable obstacles. This "Smart Labeling" reduces data processing costs while dramatically increasing the reliability of the AI model.
-
Vertical Data Expertise: AIMMO provides specialized AD-DaaS (Autonomous Driving Data as a Service), delivering high-precision datasets tailored to specific Operational Domain Designs (ODD).
AIMMO’s "Low-Cost, High-Efficiency" approach has already earned the trust of the world’s leading automotive players. The company currently collaborates with global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, including BMW, Bosch, Continental, and Magna International.

AI as a Daily Reality: Korea's Digital Leap in 2025 |
|
|
Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) recently released the results of the "2025 Survey on the Internet Usage." The data confirms a profound shift in the national digital landscape: Artificial Intelligence has officially transitioned from a specialized technology to a daily necessity for the majority.
Here is a breakdown of the key AI-specific insights from the report, highlighting how Korean citizens are integrating this technology into their lives.
1. Exponential Growth in AI Awareness and Usage
The percentage of the population experiencing AI services in their daily lives has seen a remarkable surge.
-
The AI usage rate (experience rate) more than doubled in just four years, jumping from 32.4% in 2021 to 67.0% in 2025.
-
While adoption is widespread across all generations, the "under-40" demographic remains the primary driver, with usage rates for those in their 30s approaching 80%.
2. Generative AI Goes Mainstream
2025 marks the year Generative AI moved beyond tech enthusiasts to become a practical tool for the general public.
-
44.5% of respondents reported using Generative AI, an 11.2%p increase from the previous year.
-
ChatGPT remains the most dominant service with a 41.8% usage rate, followed by Gemini (9.8%), Copilot (2.2%), and the leading domestic LLM, CLOVA X (2.0%).
-
Approximately 17.8% of Generative AI users now utilize premium (paid) versions, with professionals and managers showing the highest propensity for paid services (20.6%).
3. Primary Use Cases: Residential & Smart Life
Korean users are primarily leveraging AI to enhance their immediate living environments.
-
35.9% of users engage with AI through smart home appliances and domestic service robots.
-
This is followed by Transport (25.6%), Communication & Socializing (20.9%), and Education/Learning (19.1%).
4. Public Sentiment: Trust and Optimism
The survey reveals a strong positive outlook regarding the societal impact of AI.
-
Two out of three citizens (66.8%) believe that AI-based services provided by the government and corporations have a positive impact on society.
-
Over half of the population (54.7%) expressed trust in the information and outputs generated by AI services.
The 2025 data illustrates that AI is no longer a "future concept" in Korea; it is a core utility driving innovation in both the workplace and the home. As Generative AI becomes more sophisticated, the market is shifting from mere exploration to value-driven utilization, with a growing segment of users willing to pay for enhanced productivity.
